This is a group project I created as part of the Visual Information module, where we designed a banner infographic poster on the gender pay gap. Our goal was to inform viewers about this ongoing issue and raise awareness that the pay gap still exists today. To capture people's attention in a fun and engaging way, we developed a unique illustration style, colour palette, and custom-designed heat, line, and bar charts.
As part of the project, we created an animated video to explain the gender pay gap and highlight various factors that contribute to it. The video explores how women's pay is affected by several issues, including maternity leave and societal expectations for women to manage household chores and caregiving responsibilities. These factors can unfairly impact women's opportunities for promotions, leading to significantly lower earnings compared to their male counterparts. Check out the video below.
In conclusion, I learned a great deal about how to engage users and create clear, effective infographics. This project also taught me the importance of teamwork and how to collaborate to create a cohesive design. Overall, it was a valuable experience that enhanced both my technical skills and my ability to work effectively within a group.
